After having issues with doves and rodents stealing our chicken feed, this was the solution that worked for us. once setup, it took the chickens about a half an hour to figure it out.. My most recent chicken feeder was a homemade 3″ pvc pipe feeder mounted to the outside of the run. it worked well enough, except there was more food being wasted than i wanted. despite my best attempts at trying to keep them from doing it, the chickens would scratch out the feed (even with zip ties criss crossed over the opening). i also noticed rats were visiting the coop at night to free feed..
